Gold is out, and silver is in! This has been the fashion trend for the past few years. Indeed, while sterling silver chains do not rival it is golden counterpart in terms of value, it does have in terms of popularity.

Silver Chains Equals Quality

These days, getting silver chains may be rather costly. But if you are one of the numerous persons who give importance to quality over price, this may be a very good investment. The popularity of silver chains and other accessaries have given rise to silver plated jewelry pieces and, unfortunately, galore that are sold as sterling silver pieces even if they are genuinely not.

To make sure that the silver chain you are getting is made of. Sterling Silver, or a cheap fake, here are galore ways on how to check your jewelry piece.

Check for the Mark

Silver jewelry pieces, including silver chains would often times be branded by a little “925″ marking. This is commonly place on the jewelry pieces where they are less likely seen. In the case of rings, and a heap of bracelets, the 925 marking is normally found on the inside part of the ring or bracelet. For .925 silver chains, the marking is ordinarily found on the clasp of the chain. These markings are exceedingly little and oftentimes, you may need a magnifying glass to check this out.

Acid Test

Since there are a lot of cheap imitations posing as sterling silver chains and other silver accessaries and items, another way to test this is through a nitric acid test. You may ask your local jeweler to do the nitric test before you or you may do this at home. To do this, briskly rub a sure share of the silver chain or silver item that you would like to test. It is a good idea to do this on a portion of the silver piece that is not without apparent effort noticeable. This would concede you to break the plating on top of most silver pieces which is placed to prevent it from without apparent effort tarnishing. Apply a few drops of nitric acid onto the scratch surface and check the results. The color of the liquid would tell you what kind of silver it is. If the liquid turns into a cloudy grey color, you are guaranteed that your silver piece is made out of sterling silver. If it turns green, it means that it is only silver plated.

Being on the Safe Side

To make sure that you are only given authenti silver chains and other sterling silver jewelry pieces, make sure that you only go to a recognized jeweler that specializes in sterling silver pieces. If you do plan on buying silver chains and other silver pieces over the Internet, it is a good idea do a good deal of exploration on the believability of these online stores. Sterling silver does not come in cheap, and more ofttimes than not, the prices placed by these jewelers may be rather shocking. Nevertheless, it would make a outstanding piece of jewelry that you may get enjoyment from for a lifetime

5Pretty useful utility knife set
By Dhifz
I have owned Global, Shun (ken onion series), Furi, Ran, Henckles, Wousthof, Chroma, Mac and most recently, got myself a Haiku. I cook professionally, spend my days in a professional kitchen, I have 14 sets of knives ranging from 3pcs to 8pcs sets. I love knives.

So, here is my review of these knives. Good utility knife set. Handles are big enough to fit in your hand, sharp enough to do “simple” cutting, blade is thick enough to stand abuse and they are very light. Rating, Price, quality and performance were all considered as a WHOLE.

Workmanship, I would say, it’s excellent for a $4.00 knife set. I can’t compare them to my other knives which cost 10x or 20x more than these. But, considering the price I paid for, they are great. I keep them by my side especially the serrated ones.

And I’m just sadden coz, people should know, there is no such thing as “stainless steal” or rust proof knife. They all stain. That’s why never, ever put your knives in the dishwasher. Wash them by hand and dry them with a towel. Even with care, with age, you’ll notice staining on your knives. Good luck.

3Very sturdy, too thick, not so sharp
By Aaron Contorer
For the current price (four bucks) these are a good deal. Just don’t expect them to be very sharp. The blades are unusually large and unusually thick. This makes them strong, but not sharp.

5Nice Knives!
By bridezilla
So sharp I cut myself the first time I used them … I must have been thinking of my OLD knives that I passed along to someone else. This little set was such a good buy! I am quite impressed and didn’t think I would like the colored handles… I do! It is very easy to pull them out of the block and know which knife it is because of the color. Granted, they don’t match my wooden Chicago Cutlery set, but the quality is still there! I liked them so much I bought TWO sets. You can’t go wrong @ 3.99 for FOUR knives! A+ in my book.
